Stand with those facing extreme poverty as the UK cuts aid
Aid is under attack, the UK Government recently made the shocking announcement that aid will be cut to just 0.3% of Gross National Income (GNI).
We know aid works. Over the past 30 years, more than one billion people have been lifted out of extreme poverty. This extraordinary achievement serves as a reminder that it is possible to fight extreme poverty. It is essential that we have funding to continue this work.
Sayyeda Salam, Executive Director of Concern Worldwide (UK) said:
We are shocked by the decision to cut the UK’s aid budget. At a time of increased need around the world we need more compassion and kindness, not decisions that will have devastating and deadly consequences for people who already live in extreme poverty.
We are appealing to you to show solidarity with people living in extreme poverty by helping to safeguard the future of aid and ensure we can keep our life saving and life-changing programmes running for as long as they are needed.
Please if you can, give today.
