    • Asma Begum (37) and her husband Abdul with their three daughters Lamia (18), Sadia (16) and Maria (5) and their grandmother Kulsum Begum (72) started CRAAIN in 2020. Asma Begum started as a lead farmer, received training and seeds. Before, she did agri activities but wasn’t very successful. She had received one ring composter from the local gov but no training on how to use it. As a lead farmer, she has supported 400 households in this area. She used to rely on her husband but is now totally reliable.

          Türkiye-Syria earthquake: where your money is going

          At 4.17am on February 6, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria. Tens of thousands of people lost their lives and more than 50,000 buildings were reduced to rubble.           Ewalan Mojong moved to Kangalita village to grow maize after Concern helped to desilt a local canal, providing irrigation for the land - as part of a drought response and resilience-building programme in Turkana, Kenya. By using water from the canal for irrigation, farmers are able to conserve their agro-systems by saving water and maximizing yields towards climate change adaptation.

          What do we mean when we talk about resilience?

          Resilience is a word we use a lot at Concern, but what does it mean? In general terms, it is a characteristic that describes a person’s capacity to cope in difficult times.
