Give back and make a difference this festive season

Help Ukrainians endure winter’s harshest months as they face limited heating. Support Concern’s aid for warmth, fuel, and home repairs.

Concern works in Türkiye to support Syrian refugees through access to education and livelihoods programmes. One of the places we do this work is at the Concern Community Centre in Saliurfa province.  

Heavy rain has led to flooding across Bangladesh since early May, with millions of people impacted. As monsoon season continues, we examine the driving forces behind it and how Concern is supporting communities. 

Today, there are an estimated 35.3 million refugees worldwide. Someone is a refugee if they have fled their home country to escape conflict, violence, or persecution and have sought safety in another country.  

Due to the nature of our work, the humanitarian and development sector can present additional challenges to encouraging the inclusion and equality of opportunity for women. We spoke with Valerie McFarlane, Concern’s Head of Workplace Equality, Diversity and Inclusion about how the organisation rises to these challenges to promote gender equality. 

This February marks two years since conflict in the Ukraine escalated, driving many people to leave their homes in search of safety. More than 14 million people are still in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UNHCR. 

One year on from the earthquakes that devastated Syria and Türkiye last year, many families continue to live in fabric tents that do not protect them from the cold, and leak heavily when it rains.
