The Africa Edition of the Global Hunger Index measures hunger in the countries of Africa and is an adaptation of the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2016 report, which measures hunger throughout the developing world.

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has calculated GHI scores each year since 2006 to assess progress, or the lack thereof, in combating hunger. The GHI Africa Edition, published for the first time in 2016, consists of the data, scores, and analysis from the GHI that are relevant to Africa, along with additional content.

The GHI 2016 Africa Edition shows that – although progress between countries varies – the level of hunger in all countries across the continent of Africa, for which GHI scores could be calculated, has declined since 2000. English and French versions of the report can be downloaded below.
