Knowledge Matters – Humanitarian crises
Humanitarian crisis response is an area that is central to how Concern works as an organisation. This issue of Knowledge Matters, published in October 2015, shares insights from our recent experiences in the wake of disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan and the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
In this issue of Knowledge Matters, members of Concern’s emergency team highlight both the successes and challenges they’ve faced when responding to humanitarian crises.
Senior emergency engineer, Per Andersson, draws on his experiences in the Philippines and Nepal to examine how ‘building back better’ happens in theory and practice.
Elsewhere, security, co-ordination and shelter are examined as vital elements of any humanitarian response.
This edition also features abstracts of all articles in French.
This publication covers aid activities implemented with the financial assistance of several donors, including Irish Aid, UK Aid, The European Union and USAID.
