In response to the 2021 G7 summit, Danny Harvey, Executive Director of Concern Worldwide (UK) said:

"The G7 summit this year came against a backdrop of the worst health crisis in recent history, global poverty on the rise for the first time in decades, urgent action needed on climate change and several countries on the brink of famine. We welcome the call for action to reverse the trends on the rise in poverty, hunger and malnutrition. However, building back better will be impossible unless accompanied by the necessary investments, and places the needs of the poorest and those most vulnerable to these crises at the heart of all efforts. The G7 has the power to change the world, but only if these world leaders lead by example, starting with a reversal of catastrophic UK aid cuts that are derailing these efforts on the ground."
